The Truman Show

The Truman Show
The life that Truman Burbank lived was real. The people were real, the grass was real and the air was real. Just like in a "real life". The things he experienced were all real, even if they were actors, they were still real to him. Therefore, yes the life the Truman Burbank lived was just as real as any one of our lives.

The life that Truman lived was real on many levels. There were real friendships that Truman and his friends had, they shared real memories and had real fun. Just like any other friendship does. Even if the actors were just acting their role, they still had to act on him. He does not have a script, so they don’t know what they will have to do or say because they don’t know what Truman will do. So they will have to think about what they want to say or how they want to react, just like regular people do in a conversation.

Another thing that makes it real is that he thinks it is real. He doesn’t know that it is all a set and his "friends" are actors. He thinks that everything is just like a normal person’s life. He thinks that he goes to school with his friends, and he is getting an education to further his career and be a successful human being. He will wake up, get ready, drive in his car and go to work. Just like any of us or our families do. He thinks just the same as anybody else would.

The thing that makes Truman Burbank’s life real was the fact that he experienced real life situations. He went though his father’s death, or what he thought was his death. He went through work and school. He had to buy his food like any other member of society. He goes to sleep at a certain time and wakes up at a certain time. He lives his life like any other human being does or did.

In conclusion, I believe that yes, Truman Burbank did live a real life. Everything that surrounded him was real. He had real friends that he had. He went through real life experiences just like any other person with a real life does. He thinks everything that anyone else does. He has goals, dreams and ambitions just like other people do, in their "real" lives. He has real feelings just like other people do and he thinks like other people do. Therefore, Truman Burbank did live a real life just like anyone else.

The Truman Show

The life that Truman Burbank lived was not real because there wasn't really anything totally real. Yes, the people were real people, and the grass was real grass and the air was real air. But the idea of the world was not real at all.

I think that one of the reason's shows like Jon and Kate Plus 8 are so successful are because of the kids. Everyone finds their children adorable, and we love to watch them do and say funny things. We like to see how Jon and Kate deal with having two sets of multiples. Parents could watch it for inspiration. They could think well Jon and Kate have 8 kids, and I have 2. If they can do it and be fine, so can I.
I think that it is fine to include children in reality TV shows because if you choose not to, and they grow up and find out that they could have been on a show, they might be very mad or upset about it. But if you do put them on the show, it might change their life, either for good or bad. They might feel special because whenever they go out, people recognize them and want to come talk to them. But it could also be bad in a sense that they have no privacy.
I think that yes, shows like these give a false sense of how easy it is to raise a large family. The Gosselins are on a show, which means they get paid a good amount. Plus Jon works. They are always going out as a family and doing things with the kids. This could make some parents think that if they have a big family they will be able to always go out and do things, when they probably won't be able to.

We went to Vaughn Mills mall a while ago, I just haven't had time to write this blog yet, so here goes. Going to Vaughn mills was so much fun! We got to learn about how stores are placed in malls to try to achieve the most popularity and business it possibly can. But we got to do it from just walking around and not looking for specific things. I learned that the Vaughn Mills mall was originally owned by the States, but it is now owned by Canada. One thing that I didn't like about the trip was the bus, they are always so uncomfortable! But other than that, the trip was great and a lot of fun!
Some of the sections in the mall were; rural, city, and great lakes. They used different flooring, and designs on the ceiling to make it feel like the certain area. There are a lot of different age categories in the mall. Pretty much something for everyone. There are stores for kids like Gap, stores for teenagers, like American Eagle, Garage and H&M, and for older people too. The only thing that I didn't really see were any electronic stores, for cell phones or computers, or a Hollister. If the mall had a Hollister or Abercrombie, it would get a lot more business.

"Gossip Sells the Goods"

Some shops have celebrities that shop there regularly. Some advantages that the store would have, would be that if people found out that a certain celebrity shopped there, most people would think oh since ____ shops there, then if I shop there I will look as cool as they do. If a celebrity shops at a store and they wear a logo, then the store is getting a lot of publicity, because if the star gets a picture taken with that logo on their body, then everybody who sees that picture sees the logo, and will see the star wearing it.

Sometimes people think that when a star is being paid to wear a brand name article, and promote their products, that it is wrong. This is because they might not even like the products, but they are getting paid to wear them. They think that is bad, even though it is good for the stores and companies because they are spending money on these celebrities to wear their clothing, but they are getting advertisement in return, so in their eyes it is a darn good trade off.

Celebrity endorsement helps boost retail sales because, if people , especially younger children, see their favourite singer or actor wearing something they like then they will want to go buy it. They will get sucked into the idea that since they are wearing it that they will look like them, or be "cool" just like them. They believe what companies who use celebrities as spokes people want them to think. They want to think that since a cool famous person is wearing their clothes, that if you want to be famous, or look famous then you will buy their clothing too. When in fact, the celebrities don't buy their clothing. They are usually just given to them for advertisement and publicity.

Celebrities have become part of the business plan and business model because what celebrities think and do affects stores and retail sales. Some restaurants make their places based on a famous star or what celebrities think. Which, is not good, because then it might not e suitable for anybody else. Other normal everyday people might not be able to afford it.

I think that if companies want to use celebrities to help boost their sales rate, go for it! If they want to have a famous star wearing their clothes let them. Usually people with brains don't think that buying the same clothes as their favourite star will make them cool, or look like them. If people buy things usually, hopefully, it is because they like the style, look and maybe fit. Not because some dumb star is wearing it because a company gave it to them for free. Sure, maybe you saw a celebrity wearing something or using something, and you think oh that looks cool, or I really like that, it's because YOU like it. Not because of who is wearing or using it. I personally, will buy something simply because I like it. I don't care if a famous star is wearing something, that is defiantly not going to make me go out and buy it. I'm not dumb, and I am defiantly not going to see someone wear something and go and buy it. Because me wearing it or using it, is not going to make me as popular, or look the same as someone. That's just common sense.
